FORCED DRAUGHT COOLING TOWER
We take this opportunity in stating that BELL COOLING TOWERS are unique by being the only Forced
Draught Fibreglass Cooling Towers with a complete range. It has the following distinct advantages over
any other Induced Draught Tower:-
ECONOMY IN POWER CONSUMPTION:- Being forced draught, the fan handles cold and dry air with
much less specific volume and hence air flow quantity is lesser, for a given duty, than Induced Draught.
Also BELL uses specially designed PVC fills which has lesser static resistance than any other type of
fills. And finally the velocity pressure which is wasted into the atmosphere in Induced Draught towers, is
utilized effectively in Forced Draught towers contributing in saving of
power.
ECONOMY IN WATER CONSUMPTION:- As the exit air velocity is less in a Forced Draught tower,
the carry over loss is reduced. Coupled with this, very high efficiency drift eliminators reduce the total drift
loss to max. 0.05% compared with 0.2 - 0.3% for other type of towers. This also eliminates the drift
nuisance as well as algae formation around the towers.
ECONOMY IN SPACE CONSUMPTION:- As the air entry to the cooling tower is from one side and
discharge is from the top of the cooling tower, the clearance required for forced draught towers is only
from one side, whereas for Induced Draught towers, clearance from all the sides of the cooling towers
needed, effectively requiring more space.
EASY MAINTENANCE:- Over and above the preceding points, the forced draught tower has moving parts near the foundation
increasing stability and life. The fan handles dry, air, therefore the problem of corrosion is reduced
considerably and moisture - condensation, motor burnouts are also eliminated. Maintenance is easier as
the fan is near the ground and easily accessible. The top of the tower is open, hence internals are also
easily accessible.
TECHNICALLY SUPERIOR TOWER INTERNALS:
Coupled with this, BELL has an unpressurised gravity flow distribution system requiring minimum of
maintenance, eliminating the possibilities of breakdowns due to clogging of nozzles or sprinkler
holes.
All PVC Fills are double folded with an automatic drainage system, producing a favourable pressure
drop and a good protection against erosion. They are glued by automatic process and manufactured
with German Technology. The fills can easily withstand temperature upto 65 C. High Efficiency
Drift Eliminators manufactured with German design ensure a maximum drift loss of 0.05% under
standard design conditions. The sub-distribution pipes are made of rigid PVC with a testing - pressure
of 6 Kg/cm2.
LONG LASTING EXTERNAL PANELS:
The cooling tower panels and main troughs are of corrosion resistant fibreglass with a longer service
life and available in various colour choices. BELL uses superior quality isothelic resin and FRP
matting, making the components stronger for withstanding wind pressures.
ESPECIALLY DESIGNED FANS & STANDARD MOTORS:
The Axial Flow Fans are statically balanced and manufactured in strick conformation to renowned
American Designs. All motors are of standard make TEFC, with IP 55 protection and co-guaranteed
by the original Manufacturers such as SIEMENS, NGEF, ABB, KIRLOSKAR and others. All the fans
are direct driven, eliminating any gear box problems as experienced in other cooling towers.
TWIN FANS & MOTORS:
Moreover, in the higher range of towers of capacities of 175 TR and above, BELL supplies them with
twin / multiple fans & motors enabling you to further save on power, if the plant operates on partial
load. In case of hospitals, hotels etc. where there is a 24 hours operation, any changes of breakdown
is eliminated because the plant can still be run on part load. Periodic servicing can be carried out
without any shutdowns.

EFICIENCY benefiting the user in several ways and saving in running costs.
CENTRIFUGAL FAN COOLING TOWERS:
BELL is the only company offering Forced draught cooling towers with CENTRIFUGAL FANS for
low noise operations (for hospitals, hotels etc).
INDUCED DRAUGHT COOLING TOWERS:
BELL also offers INDUCED DRAUGHT (ID) SERIES OF FRP COOLING TOWERS as a parallel
range with their Forced Draught (FD) series. These towers are also equipped with specially designed
fills which as already known to you, has a lesser static resistance than any other type of fills.
